RSGI selected 100 law firms for inclusion in the Resight India 2025 list following an assessment process which included submissions, interviews, client reviews, and analyses of league tables, published deals and work.
While previous ratings have included 50 law firms, this year we expanded the list to 100 to reflect the growing size and maturity of the Indian legal services market. As part of our holistic approach, each firm was assessed against the Resight RISE criteria: on its reputation, the quality of its clients and work (instructions), the sophistication of its business, and client user ratings (experience). Of these, the highest scoring firms, listed below, were awarded a star rating.
A group of five law firms lead the market on three of the four RISE criteria: reputation, instructions, and sophistication of the business. These law firms – AZB & Partners, Cyril Amarchand & Mangaldas, Khaitan & Co., Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, and Trilegal – are beginning to create a moat between them and the next tier of law firms. These 5 star law firms perform well on all three criteria and are modernising their businesses to support continued growth.
Behind the leading pack are seven 4.5-star firms, who are among the leaders in most, but not all, ratings criteria. These firms are considered top-quality choices for certain practice areas and have also invested in modernising their firms. All have stand-out individual practitioners and the potential to be included in RSGI’s five-star tier.
The three- and four-star firms have market-leading scores in some of the four criteria. Many of the firms in this tier received strong experience scores, based on a high number of positive user ratings. In some cases, their smaller size, tighter partnership bonds or practice area specialisation is driving high levels of client satisfaction and loyal relationships.
The Resight 100 Law Firms are listed below. The firms in this list include two established in the 19th century and 16 set up in just the last five years. They range in size from 4 to 1,214 lawyers, and vary in the sophistication of their business systems and structures. The law firms included have different strength profiles, from traditionally run but high quality boutiques to newer firms set up with consciously modern management models and digital strategies. Each firm is profiled in full on the Resight India platform, where we share a detailed breakdown of its performance on all indicators, profile individual lawyers, show recent clients and work, and share client ratings of the firm and individual lawyers.
